Decidim is an open-source platform and a democratic community that leads collaborative governance and digital decision-making.
Following significant growth, the project urgently needed a visual evolution. The objective was to consolidate a graphic identity that was fresh, joyful, and hopeful, one that better reflected its community spirit and established a solid visual foundation to effectively communicate its mission across all its platforms.
Strategy and Approach
To achieve an identity that resonated with the community, the process was entirely collaborative. Together we defined the three conceptual pillars that would guide every design decision:

- Collective Action
- Connect
Modular Construction (Atomic Methodology): We adopted a modular design system (the same one you saw in your previous query) to manage the complexity and diversity of the platform:

We defined the most basic and recurring elements (colors, typography, editable textures).

We applied the molecules to build complete, ready-to-use communication pieces (Instagram posts, carousels, web designs).
The new visual identity was designed to reflect the energy and diversity of participation:
- Expanded Color Palette: We used a richer and more vibrant palette to generate contrast and dynamism. These fresh colors deliver the requested joyful and hopeful touch.
- Connection Textures: We added organic shapes and textures that simulate the community's complexity and diversity. Visually, these forms represent how social participation, although chaotic at times, is always interesting and enriching.
- Black and White Images: To highlight and focus on Collective Action, we decided to use real photographs, specifically from the Decidim events library. This creates a layer of closeness that contrasts with the bright color palette, directing attention to the people.
The identity was fully adopted and is now active across all of Decidim's communication platforms, establishing a coherent visual presence that supports the continued growth of its global community.
