The Guerrilla Foundation's 2024 Annual Report was not meant to be a simple operational summary. The challenge was to create an editorial design that acted as a political and situated tool, rejecting traditional corporate aesthetics.

The objective was to make the complexity of its mission visible: to show internal tensions, reveal the human process behind the foundation, and ensure that the redistribution of power and resources was understood not as an exception, but as common sense. The design had to open space for non-linear interpretations and sustain the political urgency of the message.

Approach

The strategy focused on rejecting the ideal of "digital perfection" (pixel-perfect) to embrace a design that felt manual, imperfect, and authentic.

Guided by the intention of reflecting the manual process and allowing flexibility, three design pillars were defined:

  • Situated Materiality: Use of handwritten annotations, layers, fragments, and doodles that reflect the human process.
  • Archive Structures and Fanzines: Unpolished, photocopied aesthetic, with intentional errors and photographs of real projects, following the style of grassroots and activist publications.
  • Radical Cartographies: Creation of non-traditional visual guides that direct reading without controlling it, giving the reader flexibility for their own interpretation.

Result

The Annual Report 2024 transforms into an editorial document that is, in itself, a visual manifesto. The final graphic identity allows for the following:

  • Humanizing the Data: By including manual elements, using real images from the projects they fund, and adopting a fanzine aesthetic, a closer and less formal connection is established with the reader.
  • Sustaining Complexity: The visual layers and fragmentation represent the diverse facets of the Foundation's vision.
  • Fostering Freedom of Reading: The design allows information to flow without a strict hierarchical order, introducing some friction for a more thoughtful reading.

The result is a report with a graphic identity that reflects the Guerrilla Foundation's vision in a transparent, political, and non-corporate way.
